Until recently, it was quite common in Malta to observe women making bizzilla (lace) on a ‘trajbu’ with ‘ċombini’ (bobbins), on the doorstep of their house.

These votive monuments, the two marble cippi, were discovered at the end of the 17th century, presumably in the south of Malta, at Marsaxlokk.
