Introduction to the Scent of Senglea
The olfactory signature of a place is a defining aspect of its sensory space. It harmonizes with the atmosphere of the location and the experiences of its visitors. This signature is a bespoke reflection, co-created with those who shaped the place. A location also tells a story within the broader narrative of its surroundings.
Collaborating with a Renowned Perfumist
With this in mind, the owners of The Snop House enlisted Aglaé Nicolas, a Parisian perfumer with a holistic approach to life, who has been immersed in the perfume industry for over 20 years. For Aglaé, discovering Malta was a delight for the senses: history, art, and landscapes.
Inspiration and Discovery
“I was constantly inspired by Maison Snop in Senglea. Each room carried a creative force that contributed to the evocative power of the house. Discovering Malta in Snop mode is both a voyage of land and sea, time and history, with a capital S and a capital H. The colors and smells transported me, and itʼs the people who will keep me coming back. Following in the footsteps of my guides through the archipelago, I explored the multi-faceted paths of majestic Malta, wild Comino, and the eco-island of Gozo. Thank you to everyone we met, mingled with, laughed with, and shared experiences with.”
Crafting the Perfect Formula
“I returned with a nose full of olfactory inspirations: the golden earth and the turquoise sea, the sweet smell of honey, the crisp green of mastic, the freshness of eucalyptus, and the iodine of sea spray. My nose came up with the perfect formula: Tones and Moods of Malta by the Snop.”
